The
conservation units that make up the mosaic of Carajás, Carajás National Forest
and Itacaiúnas National Forest, celebrated 19 years since the publication of
Federal Decree 2,486 dated 02/02/98, which created them. And to commemorate the
date ICMbio, through the Mosaic Visitor Center of Carajás, in partnership with
the Public Use Sector of Flona, the Municipal Environment Secretariat, held
on Saturday (18), the II Ecological Circuit of Carajás .
The
visit was free and open to the public, 62 people registered, directly at
ICMbio's headquarters to visit the Forest. The public servant Kaciane Gomes
Barbosa learned of the tour, signed up and even took ten more friends to know
the natural beauty of Carajás.
"It
was all wonderful, first to know the Flona, which is so much talked about and
explored in our city, but little known in fact by the population, and secondly
by the experience of the tour itself, with so many adventures and unique
landscapes," reported Kaciane Gomes the visit.
"I
have been here in Parauapebas for two years and I did not know the existence of
these natural beauties of Carajás Forest. There are species of animals and
flowers that are unique here, even in very specific areas that if you leave
them you will not find anywhere else in the world, this is incredible! It is
good to know that we are in a unique place in the world and we need to
preserve. We passed by caves, waterfalls, ecological park. It is worth it, my
heartfelt wish that everyone has the opportunity to know, "said Daniel
Lincoln da Silva, who is autonomous.
Ecological Circuit Roadmap
The
concentration was early in the morning, in front of the National Forest
Ordinance (Flona) of Carajás, the group left in two buses. The first stop was
at the Visitor Center in Zoobotânico, where a lecture was given on the work of
ICMbio, its objectives, what is Flona
Carajás and its challenges.
During
the lecture the visitors were advised of the importance of knowing all the
natural wealth of the region and then contributing to its preservation. The
objective was also to awaken the sense of belonging of the Forest and to
clarify that it is not owned by the private sector, but by the whole community,
besides demonstrating that the region has not only the mineral potential but
also possesses a natural wealth that Can benefit the community in other ways.
After
the lecture, the visitors sang the congratulations alluding to the 19 years of
the Flona de Carajás and they left for the Lagoa da Mata Trail, where they
walked for a mile, knowing different tree species and receiving various
information about the local ecosystem. The Lagoa da Mata is a rainwater
catchment area, more like a panela, with vegetation that has already been
studied by researchers because of its relevance.

Following
this, the visitors left for the Mirador da Mina de N4, where they had the
opportunity to see the progress of the mining process in the area, from its
implantation to the present day.
The
next point of visitation was the savanna metallophile, a peculiar environment
of the region, where there is a unique vegetation, that grows in rocky
formations of iron. In this place visitors had the opportunity to see the
flowering of Ipomea Calvantei, endemic flower of Carajás, which may cease to
exist if there is disorderly advance of mining.
Some
caves were also visited, among them the Mapinguari iron cave, protected by law and
of great relevance to the ecosystem. The final point of the circuit was the
waterfall of Águas Claras, most of the visitors experienced the wonderful
sensation of relaxation that the bath in the waterfall provides.
